Monitoring and Baiting Systems

Baiting systems provide an affordable and highly effective solution for eliminating entire termite colonies. These systems work by first placing bait stations around the perimeter of your property, strategically positioned where termites are likely to forage. There are two types of stations: monitoring stations and baiting stations.

  1. Monitoring Stations: These stations contain rods that need to regularly checked for termite activity. When termites are detected, bait is added to the station to initiate the elimination process. This method allows for targeted treatment, ensuring that the bait is only introduced when necessary.

  2. Baiting Stations: In contrast, these stations are pre-filled with a slow-acting termiticide that termites feed on straight away when they enter the station.

When termites feed on the bait, then carry it back to their colony, spreading it among other termites and throughout the population, including the queen. This results in the gradual destruction of the entire colony.

Surekill technicians are fully trained and qualified to set up and maintain these systems, ensuring that termites are precisely targeted without the excessive use of toxic chemicals. regular monitoring of the bait or rod stations is essential, with quarterly inspections to assess termite activity and ensure that bait is being consumed. An annual inspection of the entire house is also recommended to maintain long-term protection and detect any new infestations early.

With bait in the systems, you can be confident in guaranteed colony elimination, making it a reliable choice for termite control.

Chemical Barrier Treatments

A chemical treated zone involves trenching or drilling around the footings of your home and applying liquid termiticide to the soil. This creates a protective zone that either repels or kills termites that come into contact with it. There are two types of chemical barriers;

  • Repellent Chemicals: When termites come into contact with the chemical, they die quickly. However, because the chemical repels them, it doesn't allow for a transfer effect back to the colony.  As a result , the colony itself is not eliminated, and termites may continue to work in untreated areas outside the treated zone.

  • Non-Repellent Chemical: Termites are unaware of the chemical in the soil and unknowingly come into contact with it. They then transfer the chemical back to the colony, spreading it among other termites, which ultimately leads to the colony's  elimination.

Both methods are effective, and the choice depends on the specific needs of your property. It is strongly advised to have at least a yearly inspection to ensure the integrity of the treated zone and detect any new termite activity.

Foaming

Termite foaming is a targeted treatment that involves applying non-repellent chemicals directly into wall cavities, voids, and infested timber. The foam penetrates areas where termites are active, killing the colony from within. This method is ideal for treating termites inside structures and is applied using a foaming machine that mixes termiticide with compressed air.  After treatment, the drill holes are sealed to restore the wall's appearance.

Drilling and Treating Trees

When termite activity is found in trees, the technician will inspect the tree externally to determine if the infestation is on the outside or within the tree. If no external evidence is found, holes are drilled in strategic locations to detect termite presence inside. Once confirmed, the activity is treated to eliminate the colony. This treatment is essential for protecting nearby structures, as termites in trees can easily move to homes. It is like leaving a flame burning on your property.

Reticulation System

A Reticulation system is a highly effective termite treatment option for protecting existing dwellings. It involves the installation of a network of underground pipes around the perimeter of the home. These pipes are designed to distribute liquid termiticide evenly into the soil, creating a continuous chemcial treated zone that prevents termites from entering the property.

Once installed the reticulation system can be easily refilled with termiticide every two years, ensuring long-term protection without the need for repeated digging or disruption to your property. It is particularly effective because it allows for precise application of termite control chemicals directly into areas where termites are most likely to enter, such as around footings and slab edges.

Reticulation systems offer a low-maintenance, cost-effective solutions for homeowners. When combined with annual termites inspections, they provide comprehensive termite prevention and long-lasting peace of mind. The system is complaint with Australian Standards and is an environmentally responsible, as it minimises the amount of chemical needed over time.

Dusting

Dusting termites is an effective, targeted method for eliminating active termite colonies. The process involves applying a fine termiticide dust directly to the termites or within the areas they are actively feeding. As termites move through their tunnerls, they carry the dust back to the colony, where it spreads through grooming and interaction. This eventually reaches the queen and other members, leading to the collapse of the colony.

To begin, a technician identifies areas of termite activity, such as mud tubes or damaged wood. If needed, small holes are drilled into the wall or timber to access termites deep within the structure. The dust is then applied using specialised equipment to ensure it reaches the termites. After dusting, ongoing monitoring and follow-up inspections are essential to confirm the colony has been eliminated and to prevent future infestations.

Dusting is a crucial part of a comprehensive termite management plan and works best when combined with regular inspections and other control methods.

Treatment Process

Treatment Overview

On the day of treatment, our Surekill technician will conduct a detailed inspection and implement the recommended solution, whether it be baiting, chemical barrier, foaming, or drilling. Depending on the treatment chosen, you can expect the technician to apply chemicals or set up baiting systems with precision, ensuring the termites are effectively targeted. Any drilled holes or treated areas will be carefully restored after the treatment, and the technician will explain any post-treatment steps you should follow.

Payment Options

Payment is required at the start of the treatment, unless arranged otherwise. We accept cash, credit and EFTPOS.

Post-Treatment Care

Following the treatment, our Surekill technician will provide you with a personalised Pest Management Plan. This plan outlines the necessary follow-up actions to keep your home termite-free, including:

  • Monitoring Stations: Checked quarterly if no termite activity found. If there is termite activity then the technician will discuss how often he will have to come to replenish the bait.

  • Chemical Barriers: Re-application needed every 5 years.

  • Reticulation Systems: These systems need to be refilled with termiticide every two years.

  • Annual Inspections: Essential for all properties, with vulnerable properties possibly requiring more frequent inspections.

We'll send you a reminder when your next inspection or treatment is due, ensuring ongoing protection.
